R
eigning WORCS Pro
Champion Robby Bell fi-
nally put the skids to Gary
Sutherlin's win streak with a win
of his own at round five of the
2014 Rocky Mountain MC World
Off-Road Championship Series
presented by Motoworks and
Dirt Bike Magazine. Sutherlin
secured the second spot on the
podium with Precision Concept's
Justin Seeds claiming his second
straight podium finish.
The race was played out at the
Ridgecrest Fairgrounds, which
presented the racers with a great
mixture of obstacles from high-
speed desert sections to techni-
cal rock, soft dirt and log piles,
along with a motocross track, to
challenge the racers. Also, Moth-
er Nature added some challenges
of her own with wind gusts over
30 mph during the race, which
limited visibility at times and show-
ered the racers with sand during
the two-hour-long race.
While many would have con-
sidered it rough conditions, it was
made to order for Kawasaki's Rob-
by Bell who excelled at Ridgecrest.
The long-time desert and Baja rac-
er quickly charged his way into the
lead while laying down the fastest
lap-time of the day.
"This course personally for me
was great, just because I'm used
to the higher speed stuff," Bell
said. "I've always enjoyed rac-
ing here at Ridgecrest, so it was
cool for me. It was an enjoyable
course for me, and I feel like my
skills are getting a little bit better
at the EnduroCross — I'm getting
more confidence in that stuff —
so to put it all together with a high
speed chop, little bit of sketchy
asphalt sections, and then the
wide-open sweeper corners, it
was a good time, it was physical,
but it was fun."
