OFF ROAD
ROUND 1/MAY 2, 2014
ORLEANS ARENA/LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
P92
GEICO AMA ENDUROCROSS SERIES, FUELED BY MONSTER
ENERGY AND PRESENTED BY LUCAS OIL
Blazusiak got going again but it
was too late and had to settle for
third, taking the checkered flag
three seconds behind Haaker on
the Red Bull KTM 350.
"Overall I think tonight went
good," Blazusiak reasoned. "I'm
happy with third, it's a good way
to start a championship and it's
a long one, nine rounds. I made
some mistakes but at least I know
where they came from and can
learn from them."
Taddy wasn't a fan of the tight
and ultra-technical Vegas track.
"It definitely was not my track,"
he said. "I hate going slow. That's
about all I can say about the
track. We weren't prepared for
this track, it's not what we train
for. I just didn't like it. But I'm con-
fident on my riding and the bike
is good."
Webb, Haaker and Blazusiak
were pretty much in a league
of their own on this night, as all
three riders lapped the field up
to third place. The last rider they
all got around was fourth-place
finisher Canadian off-road star
Bobby Prochnau. The KTM rider
suffered a terrible start but he
didn't let that get him down. He
steadily climbed up from 11
th
, out
of the 13-rider field.
FMF KTM's Taylor Robert
rounded out the top five, which
is a lot better than it sounds after
having rebounded from a first-lap
crash with another rider. He was
also rebounding from recent sur-
gery and a midweek illness and
was far from 100-percent coming
into the race.
Geoff Aaron, Gary Sutherlin,
Cory Graffunder, Bryan Roper
and Jamie Lanza rounded out the
top 10 overall. CN
