settled in behind Justin and Jere-
my for about three laps, but then
they started inching away. This is
my first podium, though, and I'm
pretty happy about it."
Matt Lemoine and Kyle Cun-
ningham had an early battle over
fourth, with Cunningham taking
possession of the spot when
Lemoine bobbled.
James Decotis rounded out
the top five on his Riverside Har-
ley Davidson-backed Honda.
>>250 WEST MAIN
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
The West Regional 250 SX
Championship was still very
much up for grabs with Ander-
son coming into the race with an
eight-point lead over Troy Lee De-
signs/MavTV/Lucas Oil Honda's
Cole Seely. Neither rider won.
Anderson finished sixth after get-
ting off to a midpack start, two
spots behind Seely. Despite the
class seemingly packed with TLD
riders (Seely, Malcolm Stewart,
Shane Mcelrath and Jessy Nel-
son) which could've made things
difficult for the lone Rockstar
Energy Team rider, Anderson,
but everyone played fairly and
the KTM rider managed to keep
Seely in sight to finish two spots
behind him. It was just enough
to win the title with four points to
spare over Seely.
"It's a relief and surreal and a
lot of other emotions all at once
to finally wrap that up," said An-
derson. "It's been a crazy sea-
son. I was down four points when
they docked me two positions
[for jumping on a red-cross flag]
at Anaheim II, but after that, I
went one-two, one-two, so it's
been a good year. This is my first
championship and from where I
came from it's pretty good."
Wilson's Run To The Win
Taking some of the spotlight away
from Anderson's title-winning ride
was Wilson's impressive perfor-
mance en route to victory in the
West main event, his second of
the season.
Wilson was second to Rock-
star Energy/Yamalube/Star Rac-
ing Yamaha's Cooper Webb dur-
ing the early laps but finally got
around him for good after a brief
back-and-forth on lap 10.
"It feels good to get that win,
I really wanted to win," said Wil-
son. "I just slowly picked away
at Cooper and finally got around
him. He got me back, there was
really nothing I could do in that
corner, it was super one-lined,
but I passed back. I finally passed
him through that rhythm section.
He just missed the rhythm and I
got it and got by him. After that,
I just put my laps together and
took the win."
The win was a positive note to
end on, considering the last few
seasons the rider from Ireland
has had to endure.
"It's definitely been rough, but
I've had some good moments,"
said Wilson. "The 2011 season
was my best, I got second in Su-
percross and won the outdoors.
And then in 2012, I was winning
the West Coast and then I had
shoulder issues, so ever since
then it's been rough. I came into
this year healthy but I was just
dealing with some arm-pump is-
sues. So it's been a tough sce-
nario, but I think I'm ending it on
a good note."
So Close
By finishing second, Webb
matched a season best, but that
