Losing has never felt so great!"
DuVall put forth a solid perfor-
mance to finish second overall
for the day, but admitted that he
got tired as the race wore on. "I'll
be straight up, I just got tired out
there," DuVall said. Consequent-
ly, fatigue may have factored into
DuVall's struggle on the final lap,
where he later stated, "I had a
pretty good lead on Kailub at the
end but I just about threw it away.
I crashed just before the finish
with a mile to go."
N-Fab AmPro Yamaha's Paul
Whibley came into Sunday's race
at less than 100% due to a crash
while practicing earlier in the
week. Whibley commented after
the race, "I crashed last week
while riding with Ricky Russell. I
hit a log and hit my sternum pret-
ty bad. It's been hard to breathe
and things like sneezing make it
really hard, so I wasn't even sure
I was going to be able to ride, but
I rode the bike Sunday morning
and felt like I could handle it so I
decided to race."
Whibley not only fought
through the nagging pain, but the
two-time GNCC Champion ran
in third for a majority of the race.
Russell got around Whibley on
the final lap where he ultimately
finished fourth in the XC1 class
