Lorenzo made a blazing start
and escaped impressively as
the cream of Grand Prix racing
jostled as if they were in line at
an Italian supermarket.
Teammate Rossi was sec-
ond at the end of the first lap,
Dovizioso next time round, and
thereafter Pramac Ducati's An-
drea Iannone, the last-named
again putting in a very strong
early run.
Marquez emerged to take the
place on lap four, Lorenzo now
a second ahead; and over the
next couple of laps the Honda
closed relentlessly on the Ya-
maha.
Marquez had found the first
laps "really enjoyable, with a lot

to-pass Iannone.
Pedrosa was seventh after
three laps, but he was picking
his way forward, and promoted
(Above) Rossi got pushed off-line
on more than one occasion, but
bounced back to finish an eventual
fourth.
(Right) Pol Espargaro (44) leads
his teammate Bradley Smith (38) in
their early battle for seventh. The
spot went to Smith.
