S
uperbikes returned to Auto Club Speedway
in Fontana, California this past weekend but
not as a part of the AMA Pro Road Racing
Championship. Instead it was part of a three-race
Superbike Shootout, dreamed up by team owner
John Ulrich to fill the nearly three-month gap be-
tween Daytona and Road America and to add
some races to an AMA schedule that features only
six rounds.
And it was a success. At least if you go by the
action on the track as the factory Superbikes re-
