It so should have been three
Moto3 wins in a row for Jack
Miller. The Australian Red Bull
KTM rider controlled practice
for a second successive pole
start, and played his cards right
in a sustained and fearsome
battle for the lead. He was in
front when it mattered, into the
penultimate right-hander.
At that point, Sky VR46 KTM's
Renato Fenati rammed him, sent him
wide, and snatched the victory.
Fenati earned one penalty point for
his misdemeanor, but 25 championship points for the
win.
Estrella Galicia KTM's Alex Marquez was in the thick
of it and was second by a tenth; Miller recovered for
third, half a second behind.
"I had the race won," Miller
said later. "It was a great race
until then – but, sometimes it
ends in tears."
A remarkable ride put Bel-
gian Marc VDS KTM rider Livio
Loi a career-best fourth, right on
Miller's back wheel. Celebrating
his 17th birthday, the stripling
had caught, passed and outdis-
tanced no less than Alex Rins
and Efren Vazquez, who were
still glued together for fifth and
sixth, but now four seconds adrift.
Isaac Vinales was seventh, then a
battle for eighth that saw Niklas Ajo take
it from teammate Danny Kent as they
collided over the line, Kent actually falling off, but sliding
across the finish line.
Miller still leads on points with 66, with Fenati's 49 tak-
ing over second from Vazquez's 42 points; then comes
Marquez on 40 and Rins with 35.
A picture paints a thousand
words: A happy Renato Fenati.
Jack Miller… not so much.
Once he opted
to make his
move, Marquez
rode off into the
distance for his
third straight win
to start the 2014
MotoGP season.
