Briefly...
mur in the Youth races on Saturday.
On Sunday, Justin Morrow cart-
wheeled before the first checkpoint
and reportedly racked up several
broken bones.
Argubright's win pushed him past
Ryan Smith and into sixth place in
points, but that's likely to last only un-
til after round six next weekend be-
cause Argubright will skip that round
in order to compete in the AMA West
Hare Scrambles Championship
Series where he leads the points
chase. Vet racer Morgan Crawford is
in a similar situation and will skip the
hare & hound in order to compete in
the hare scrambles where he's third
overall in points.
"I learned from the last round
that when the wind strikes, they
said a lot of the [course] mark-
ings were down so I knew to
maybe take it down a notch and
just not make mistakes, because
I made a lot of mistakes blowing
corners last time," Argubright
said. "This time, I was spot-on; I
got lost once or twice so it was
definitely good.
"I've won before so I know
what it takes. It's just a lot of
growing pains. Like I keep say-
ing, it gets better every day; I get
more used to the bike. I finally
had everything together today to
put together the win."
Argubright completed the 80-
mile race in two hours, 10 min-
utes and 12 seconds, exactly 59
seconds ahead of Brabec while
Burson nursed it in for third in
2:14:35 followed by 250cc Ex-
pert winner Ryan Smith and Vet
Expert winner Eddy.
Early leader Ivan Ramirez had
to stop along the trail to replace
a clogged fuel filter. Later, he
crashed heavily and finished
10th overall.
