CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Sidecar racing has a strong following worldwide and deserves to be properly covered in a worldwide publication like Cycle News." Sad About Sacto It's sad that the gambling horse racing community can pound the joints out of young horses until they're useless and say our use of this track one night a year causes damage. How about Calistoga half mile? It would be a sell out. Let's all support west coast AMA Pro flat track and save the greatest show on dirt. Scott Glen Via the Internet Supercross Safety In response to Bill Carr's "Supercross Safety?" I would like to add that all the Super- cross tracks today look like a paved highway compared to the tracks of the late 1970s and early 80s. I would love to see them bring back the tracks from that era - deep sand pits. Hell some even had water holes and lots of wall jumps. I know our memories play tricks on us as we get older, but I seem to remember much closer racing on tracks that seemed to be more loamy vs. smooth-packed dirt and they didn't get groomed between the motos. I thought we were getting one last year when they touted a retro track at one of the rounds, but that didn't hap- pen. Steven W. Lewis Shawnee, OK Supercross Safety II I was interested to see the comments by Bill Carr on the safety of motocross tracks, partly because there used to be a Bill Carr who was a pretty good racer with the L.A. Old Timers and I wonder if it's the same guy. Some of us old geezers are still trying to race, but I agree there are very few tracks in Southern California that aren't pretty Supercrossy by nature. The International Old Timers season championship this year includes Washougal, Hang- town and Glen Helen, all AMA National tracks. Interestingly, these are more the old-school motocross tracks that Bill was talking about. I don't mind the travel cost to go to a track that I can actually have fun racing on and still feel confident of not getting hurt by coming up short on some nasty gapped double. Perhaps Bill's comments in Cycle News will cause some local track designers to re-think their design. I can only hope and be grateful for Glen Helen. John Craft Via the Internet Craft is the president of the SoCal Old Timers MX Club… Editor No Sidecars? As always I enjoyed the new is- sue of Cycle News - great cov- erage on COTA and Aragon. However, Aragon was the first round of the FIM F-1 Sidecar World Championship and there was no mention whatsoever of the race in the coverage. Sidecar racing has a strong following worldwide and de- serves to be properly covered in a worldwide publication like Cycle News. Larry Coleman Chico, CA In The Paddock Moderately intriguing article (In The Paddock, April 15, 2014 cyclenews.uberflip. com/t/24308/134). Not sure how you compare the domi- nation of two factories to the many successes of different brands, but I digress. Anyway, I have been bored with MotoGP for several years now. I still watch because I love the sport, but by and large I find it boring. Moto2 and 3 are awesome. World Superbike is awesome. British Superbike is awesome. That about covers it.
