2014 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES
Coming into the Seattle race,
Villopoto had a very realistic
chance to clinch his fourth-
straight Supercross title two
races early and tying Jeremy
McGrath's record for having the
most successive Supercross
championships. In the end,
though, Villopoto did what he
needed to do, but Stewart and

Briefly...
For the first time all season, the
450-class racers will get a weekend
off next weekend. It's their only break
in the 17-round season and Ryan Vil-
lopoto would probably enjoy it much
better had he clinched the title in
Seattle, but he'll still rest very com-
fortably. He'll head into New Jersey
with a massive 48-point cushion over
James Stewart; the only rider be-
sides Villopoto who still has a math-
ematical chance of winning the title.
All Villopoto needs to do is earn three
points or more in New Jersey and his
fourth title will be his. Second place
in the championship is still very much
up in the air. Stewart currently leads
Ryan Dungey by three points. Ken
Roczen is currently fourth in the
championship, 18 points behind his
Red Bull KTM teammate, Dungey.
The race for the 250 West Super-
cross title, however, is much closer.
Only eight points separates leader
Jason Anderson from Cole Seely.
Third place Justin Hill has no
chance of catching either Anderson
or Seely, but he is locked in a tight
points battle with Dean Wilson for
third in the championship. Hill leads
Wilson by one point going into the fi-
nal West round in Las Vegas.
Usually, there is always a threat of
rain at the Seattle Supercross, but
not this year. This year's race saw
ideal weather and racing conditions,
yet the riders were still expecting a
super-soft racetrack, and that's
what they got. However, this year's
course held up much better than
in the past but there were still a lot
of deep and always-changing ruts.
