DID YOU KNOW?
Bell was born out of a small auto parts store in Bell,
California. Car racer and innovator Roy Richter cre-
ated Bell Helmets after he lost a second close friend
in a racing accident. Richter made a commitment to
building safety products and it was out of the garage
behind Bell Auto Parts in 1954 that Bell began manu-
facturing its first helmet – the '500.'
Bell is credited as having the first full-face helmet
- the Bell Star – that went into production in 1963
sold as the "ultimate helmet" for track cars, dragster,
flat track motorcycles and racing boats.
Also Bell's Motostar (1975) is cited as the first
purpose-built motocross helmet.
