JAMES STEWART AMA SPRING CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 51 ISSUE 13 APRIL 1, 2014 P91
and 250 B Modified Champion-
ships. The Maryland rider pulled
great starts off the gate and never
looked back en route to victory. In
both races, Frye took the check-
ers with more than eight seconds
to spare over the next rider.
"It means everything to get
these titles this week," said Al-
exander. "It feels really good,
I've worked for these. I've been
training hard since early Janu-
ary. In between then and now I've
only been home for a week. It
comes down to the blood, sweat
and tears and that really shows
here at the Nationals and who's
worked the hardest."
In the mini classes, Cobra pilot
Ryder Difrancesco went home
to California with two JS7 titles
in hand, one coming in the 50cc
Limited (4-8) class and the other
in the 50cc Limited (7-8). The
young champion finished ahead
of Nicholas Romano (KTM) and
Brock Walker (Cobra) in the 4-8
division, and Walker and Haiden
Deegan (KTM) in the 7-8 class.
Another JS7 Champion in-
cluded Texas-native and Yama-
ha-mounted Jake Masterpool in
the Schoolboy 1 (12-16) class.
Masterpool and Orange Brigade
KTM's Challen Tennant swapped
positions in both motos, with
moto one going to Tennant and
moto two going to Masterpool. It
was a battle to the end with Mas-
terpool emerging the victor.
In the Women's division, it was
Suzuki's Hannah Hodges of Flor-
ida who claimed the Women's
Amateur 14-Plus Championship
over Yamaha riders Kaitlyn Mor-
row and Kennedy Lutz. Hodges
went 1-1 for a perfect moto sweep.
The JS7 Championship also
hosted the second round of the
Women's Motocross Champion-
ship Series, and Georgia's Mack-
enzie Tricker took home the win
followed by Brandy Richards and
Taylor Higgins.
For some, the racing will pick
up again at the NMA World Minis
in a few weeks at Glen Helen
Raceway, and many will suit up
again for the Mammoth Mountain
Motocross in June, followed by
the granddaddy of them all, Lo-
retta Lynn's in late July. CN
