MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES

track. Villopoto on the other hand
is riding cautious, protecting a
big lead in the series standings,
which may be harder than pro-
tecting a small one. Either way,
both riders were at the top of their
game in St. Louis, with Stewart
having a slight edge based on his
better speed through the whoops
section. The result was another
big win for the Stewart camp,
while Villopoto and crew took sol-
ace in the fact that they are one
race closer to a fourth-straight
championship and another mark
in the history books with a solid
runner-up finish.
The Best Go At It
Stewart was particularly proud
of the fact the he rode a smart
race and was able to take notes
in his heat race defeat to Villo-
poto, which he used in the main
to make a pass on the Monster
Energy Kawasaki Team rider.
"My dad told me after the heat
race that I should have tried to
pass Ryan, but I had a plan, I
was checking out his lines," said
Stewart. "I felt like we both had
good speed, but in the whoops,
I felt like maybe I had a little
bit more. On this track, it was
tight and you had to pass in the
whoops otherwise you had to
come in and just completely stuff
someone. So I kind of saved that
for the main event."
Briefly...
to get healed up. I'm blessed and re-
ally can't thank everyone who is be-
hind me enough. I will make a 100%
recovery and be back when the time
is right. I'm motivated to get through
this and get back where I left off. I
was building great momentum and
getting more confidence each week-
end this Supercross season."
A record crowd of 60,213 filled the
Edward Jones Dome.
