By the time Casey Stoner was wearing the suit in 2007 the electronics had improved quite a bit in the version and there was a much more de- tailed electronic picture of differ- ence between riding and crash- ing. Alpinestar's MotoGP riders were equipped with a fully func- tional Tech-Air electronic airbag system in 2010. Nick Davis claimed the overall win at the Flat River Grand Prix in Missouri. STEVENS/YELLOW WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY DAVIS FAST AT FLAT RIVER GRAND PRIX N ineteen-year-old Nick Davis was the big winner at the Flat River Grand Prix, held at the St. Joe State Park in Park Hills, Missouri, on March 23. The race was also the opening round of the AMA East Hare Scrambles Series, as well as a round of the Missouri State Hare Scrambles Championship. Shane Klimek was the early leader but couldn't quite maintain the point position all the way to the end. Instead, Davis, on the Obermey- er Suzuki RM-Z450, worked his way through the pack to take the win. But it was close. Stopping for fuel on the final lap allowed for- mer hare scrambles champ Jed Haines to get within three seconds of the Suzuki rider. Haines ended up second, followed by Klimek. A COTA TREAT C ircuit of The Americas (COTA) recently treated approximately 120 motorcyclists and their guests to free laps around COTA's 3.4- mile track, which was purposely built for the kind of racing that will return to Austin when the track hosts the 2014 Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, April 11-13.
