CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "If you insist on calling it the New York City round then I suggest you…" Is Rossi A GOAT? I agree that Mr. Rossi is one of the greatest riders of all time, but the overall title "of all time" is subjective to the era the comparison is made. Mike "The Bike" Hailwood, "Fast" Freddie Spencer, "King" Kenny Roberts and Giacomo Agostini were all considered candidates at one time for the title. Each dominated their era, until the torch was passed to the next gifted rider to dominate the rac- ing scene. Valentino is still my hero, but he hasn't been the same since his big crash and stress of the Ducati years. The time for pass- ing the torch is near - let's hope the new bearer and future "of all time" can show us some of the genius and skill that Rossi and his predecessors have. Jim Dodson Via the Internet A Helping Hand Here's a version of the new Mo- toGP rules with fewer words. The Open/Factory2 class is one in the same. Simply put they offer limits that are not limiting. In comparison to the Fac- tory option this means: More testing, more tires, better tires, more fuel, more engines, freedom to develop motor and frame, no longer fixed bore to stroke ratios used previously, can use factory software as long as it's made available to the other teams, basically pay the bill for developing the updates and get whatever you want. The Factory Options get to keep their software private, but otherwise are limited in all of the above. Simple version: Open/ Factory2 = Prototype class, 1000cc or less, Maximum four cylinders, maximum bore 81mm. Minimum weight 160kg or 150kg for 800cc or less. Six-speed manual gearbox, no ABS or electronic suspension control. Factory Option = Economy run engineering contest. Stephen Hagberg Houston, TX The City That Does Sleep Just a short note for those of you who are coming to the Meadowlands SX for the first time: If you insist on calling it the New York City round then I suggest you make your plane arrival destination New York- La Guardia, arrive at around 4 p.m. on Friday, April 25 and rent a car to drive across Long Island to get to your hotel in Manhattan. For everyone else, make your arrival airport Newark, use the NJ Transit railroad link to the Meadowlands Stadium and enjoy the New Jersey round of Monster Energy Supercross. P.S. Unadilla is in the State of New York, not New York City, but if you insist on calling it the New York Motocross out- door round, then I suggest... Wally Tunison Rumson, NJ Alessi/Barcia Is anybody disgusted with just Barcia and Mike Alessi? I sure am. This sport is dangerous enough without the T-boning, front-tire-attacking whips and all the other assorted idiotic antics these two morons have been performing lately. What I don't get is why does Barcia do this crap? He is way better than Alessi in Super- cross but still rides like a total butthead.
