KENDA AMA NATIONAL ENDURO SERIES
VOL. 51 ISSUE 12 MARCH 25, 2014 P89
Briefly...
KTM factory road racer and former
SuperMoto star Chris Fillmore was
in town for the race and decided to
try his first enduro. Despite suffering
two flat tires, the Ohio rider was grin-
ning from ear to ear after the race.
"I'm so glad I decided to ride this,"
said Fillmore. "I love the atmosphere
here, it just brings me back to when I
was a kid and going to the races with
my parents. Everybody is so helpful
and it's just a fun time."
Oklahoma Yamaha rider Tony Joiner
took the win in the Rekluse Expert-
AA class, beating out KTM-mount-
ed Drew Higgins by exactly one
minute. Texas rider Martin Howell
rounded out the podium on a KTM.
"I struggled in the rocks today, I'm
mostly a sand rider, so I didn't think I
was going that fast," said Joiner. "Ev-
erything worked out for me, though,
and I'm happy to get the win."

STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY SHAN MOORE
T
he mark of a true off-road champion is his ability to win in all kinds of
terrain and conditions, which is what Charlie Mullins did during his
most recent win at the Concho National Enduro in Blackwell, Texas.
After taking a dominating win at the first round of the 2014 Kenda AMA
National Enduro Series in South Carolina, which featured tight and sandy
terrain, the FMF/KTM rider claimed an equally impressive victory in the
fast and rocky hard-packed terrain of west Texas.
In all, Mullins won four of the six tests at the Concho Enduro and took
the win by a minute and 24 seconds over second place.
A complete shakeup in the rest of the top 10 adds to Mullins' domi-
nance of the series.
Factory KTM support rider Grant Baylor was 11
th
in South Carolina but
he had the ride of his life in Texas and came away with a career-best
second-place finish.
In the meantime, Andrew DeLong was seventh in South Carolina, but
the Husqvarna Factory rider came on strong in the final few tests in Texas
to finish an impressive third.
