ALPINESTARS TECH-AIR 2.0
A
lpinestars has announced
that it has equipped all of
its MotoGP riders with the up-
graded Tech-Air electronic air-
bag system for the 2014 season.
The latest version of the Tech-
Air electronic airbag system has
increased protection by eight
times greater in volume than its
predecessor, covering the shoul-
ders, full back, torso sides and
hips in a unique one-piece airbag
design, according to Alpinestars.
Designed for optimized pro-
tection, the airbag has specific
inflation volumes over each area
of the body: shoulders (high vol-
ume), back (medium volume),
torso sides (high volume) and
hips (medium volume).
The Tech-Air system is pow-
ered by a powerful microproces-
sor that samples electronic data
every two milliseconds and is
capable of detecting an accident
situation and fully deploying its
airbag within 50 milliseconds, Al-
pinestars says. It stays inflated for
over five seconds before the air-
bag deflates and fully discharges,
returning the suit to its normal fit.
