fire up his bike on the start, he
chose to hang back and even
turn on the auxiliary fan the team
installed to keep the engine tem-
perature down.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain
ATV/MC's Josh Strang, along
with his AmPro Yamaha team-
mates Paul Whibley and Jordan
Ashburn, wasted no time get-
ting out front after battling for
the $250 All Balls Racing Hole-
shot Award. Whibley then made
a move and took over the early
lead.
The unpredictable track con-
ditions were conducive for tight
racing in the pro classes as it
was a game of cat and mouse
all afternoon. Additional leaders
included Mullins, Russell, and
even XC2 riders Grant Baylor and
Rory Mead, who started on row
two on their 250s, but battled for
the overall lead on the adjusted
time clock.
"I had no idea what was go-
ing on out there, I guess I was
leading at some point. It was like
you would go into a mud hole in
the lead and when you came out
three other people were in front
of you," Whibley said.

Russell (we think) rode
a smart and calculated
race in the mud and was
rewarded with the win.

overall near winner Grant

of racing in the mud for
nearly three hours.

overall finish.
