AMA SUPERSPORT SERIES BY LARRY LAWRENCE PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRIAN J. NELSON I f the rest of the Supersport field were smart, they would all pitch in, take up a donation and buy Corey Alexander a Daytona SportBike and give him a nice going away party. After Daytona it looks like it's going to be a long season in AMA Pro Supersport if you're not the guy on the number five Celtic/Hudson Valley Motor- cycles Suzuki GSXR600. Alexander completely mopped up at Daytona, winning the pole, leading every lap and winning big in both of the weekend's Super- sport openers. The margins of victory were an unheard of 7.923 seconds on Friday and 6.884 seconds on Saturday. Miles Thornton can at least take pride in the fact that he actually led Al- exander in round two - for about two turns anyway. Alexander looked a little sheep- ish in Saturday's press confer- ence. He was short and sweet with his comments. "Again, hats off to my whole team," said Alexander. "My bike was just as good as it was yes- terday if not a little better... Obvi- ously, we're happy to be on top again." Alexander's teammate Wyatt Farris made Celtic Racing a one- two combination that was tough to beat. Farris edged Houston Su- perbikes Yamaha rider Dustin Dominguez in the battle for sec- ond in round one. A nice battle VOL. 51 ISSUE 11 MARCH 18, 2014 P87 ALEXANDER WOWS 'EM
