MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES
ROUND 11/MARCH 15, 2014
FORD FIELD/DETROIT, MICHIGAN
P70
third in Detroit, and the 48
th
of
his career, tying him with Ricky
Carmichael for second on the all-
time supercross wins list, an hon-
or that Stewart didn't take lightly.
"At first I wasn't keeping track
of the record, but once you drop
30 points in the standings then
you start looking to other things
for motivation," said Stewart. "It's
nice to be second all time and
tie Ricky, so we'll see if we can
break that tie soon."
Series point leader Ryan Vil-
lopoto had a solid night but lost
precious time at the beginning
of the race trying to get around
fast starter Cole Seely, only do-
ing so on lap five of the final. By
that time, the damage was pretty
much done - Stewart was already
in his groove and had built up a
small cushion. Once into sec-
ond, the Monster Energy Kawa-
saki rider was not able to make a
dent in Stewart's lead, especially
when he bobbled later in the
race.
Ryan Dungey grabbed his sev-
enth podium of the year in third,
the Red Bull KTM rider solidifying
his runner-up status in the points
thanks to that consistency.
