alifornia's drought might
not be over, but it took a
break for the weekend
that saw the combined AMA Dis-
trict 37/GPR Stabilizers Big 6
Grand Prix Series and AMA West
Hare Scrambles Championship
Series visit Glen Helen Raceway
Park for the Prairie Dogs Motor-
cycle Club's 22nd Annual Prairie
Dogs Grand Prix.
Rain and wind hit the area hard
on Friday while the club put the
finishing touches on the course -
well, they were supposed to be
finishing touches.
Instead, the club had to mod-
ify the originally planned course
heavily, bypassing the low-lying
swampy areas - including most of
the motocross tracks - and stick-
ing to trails that had decent drain-
age.
Apparently, the last-minute
changes worked because there
were no reports of huge bottle-
necks or participants getting bur-
ied in Glen Helen mud.
In fact, after each race
throughout the weekend, most
muddy faces beamed, their own-
ers babbling on about how much
fun they'd just had.
Probably no one, however, had
more fun than FMF/RPM Rac-
ing/Bonanza Plumbing KTM's
Eric Yorba. He spent the first
