"Dean actually edged me out at
the start, but he went in a little hot
and I think there was a little pile-
up in the first turn, but I was on
the inside and was able to sneak
around the inside and come out
with the lead," said Villopoto. "Af-
ter that, I was able to ride my own
lines, smooth and fast. The track
was rough, and the dirt, because
of the rain, was like riding on a
sponge. The ground was mov-
ing all around you so you had to
pick good lines and be smart with
where you were going."
"Getting a good start, it makes
the race a lot easier," added Villo-
poto. "I tend to like this track, but
it seemed this year was a lot soft-
er than normal, so I think it was a
little sketchier than it usually is."
Behind Villopoto, Red Bull
KTM teammates Ken Roczen
and Ryan Dungey put on a good
battle over second, with Roczen
getting the upper hand at the fin-
ish. Before that, though, both

catches you."
Ryan Villopoto also commented on
his late race tip-over. "Whenever you
have a fall like that, all that's going
through your mind is don't stall the
bike and get up as fast as you can,"
said Villopoto. "Luckily I had a nice
lead and was able to get up and re-
group. I got a little bit tight after that,
because of the fall."
After separating his shoulder earlier
in the week, Kyle Chisholm gave it a
go in practice, but didn't come back
out for the second practice session.
Weston Peick was another rider
that tried to ride practice but ended
up sitting out the race. Peick hurt
his back practicing at Ricky Car-
michael's place earlier in the week
and will have it further evaluated. He
is still 11
th
, one point ahead of Josh
Grant, in the 450-class standings.
Ryan Villopoto was
back to his old tricks
on the challenging
Daytona track.
