BOWERS
CLOSES IN WITH
ALBUQUERQUE
WIN
T
yler Bowers won both nights
of racing at Tingley Coliseum
in Albuquerque, March 8-9, to
close to within three points of se-
ries leader Zach Ames in the AM-
SOIL Arenacross Championship.
On Friday night, Bowers traded
final-event wins with Jacob Hayes
but secured the overall victory, his
seventh of the year, by having al-
ready collected one added point
in the Head-to-Head bracket rac-
ing earlier in the evening. It was
enough to break the tie with Ames
for the overall victory.
Ames, Bowers' teammate,
was third overall with 3-5 results.
Fourth overall went to Kelly
Smith, followed by Mike Mc-
Dade.
Smith, however, took top hon-
ors in the Western Regional AX
Lites final.
Bowers collected his eighth
overall victory the next night after
going 1-2, which was enough to
beat out Hayes' 3-1.
Ames again finished third over-
all with a 2-5 result.
Kelly Smith claimed fourth
ahead of Travis Sewell. Smith
also won the Lites-class final.
With two weekends left of rac-
ing in the Race to the Champion-
ship portion of the series, Ames
leads Bowers by three points,
94-91. Hayes is third with 81.
Kyle White heads the West
Lites Championship by three
points over Gray Davenport.
