CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Thanks, Archives, for bringing to light a racer who I did not know of…" The 200 Goes Super I'm glad the Daytona 200 will once again be the top-tier bikes and riders. Now if we could get the powers that be to adopt World Superbike rules, maybe we could get it back to the world- class status it once had. Even if we have to run it in two legs. Keep up the great work! Elliott Iverson Via the Internet Alessi And Tickle Last year the Alessis tried the laser-beam-to-the-eyes trick and this year Mike has resorted to T-boning another rider who had just made a clean pass. Disgraceful. This should have resulted in a loss of his Pro card for no less than one year. Broc Tickle is lucky Alessi did not destroy his leg/knee with that bush-league move. Alessi is a bad reflection on AMA Supercross. Brad Muter Raleigh, NC Alessi And Tickle II Just watching the Atlanta Su- percross qualifiers to see Mike Alessi take out Broc Tickle in typical Alessi fashion. Some may remember me as the announcer at Perris Race- way, Glen Helen and Starwest in the 1990s. I had the pleasure of watching riders like Blake Baggett, Billy Laninovich and Cole Seely grow up to be great representatives of the sport. I also had the displeasure of watching both Mike and Jeff Alessi learn from their father Tony to be annoying, arrogant idiots who were destined to become the sport's low-hanging fruit. Mike's tears earlier this year weren't indicative of his quali- fier victory. I believe they were tears of sorrow that flowed from the soul of a youngster who followed the path of a father who thought he was intelligent. Now at the end of a career the biggest dilemma in the Alessi family is where to find the next cash cow. I've watched this continuous Alessi family downhill slide for years and use Tony's example of how not to parent. Hopefully Mike has something to fall back on after he comes to the reality that dad is a poor example of how to live. Remember the "Believe The Hype" T-shirt worn at Mike's first AMA Na- tional Motocross? Kyle C. Parsons Via the Internet Alessi And Tickle III The AMA should have disquali- fied Mike Alessi on the spot and not let him ride the main event. I used to be an Alessi fan, but this is just another incident in a long line of Alessi/ (a who's who of other riders) "incidents." This doesn't count his family's contributions to "incidents." Isn't one Jason Lawrence enough for one generation of riders? Phil Dilmore Via Facebook Alessi And Tickle IV Rubbing is racing and I love to see guys racing hard and mak- ing block passes. Unfortunate- ly, that is not what happened. Mike Alessi made a really bad decision and he only got a slap on the wrist for it. Weak sauce, AMA! Suspend him for the remain- der of the Supercross season. We don't need guys throwing temper tantrums on the track and making it more dangerous. Matt Ellis Via Facebook The Berkeley Burner I enjoyed the conclusion of the article about John Williams' racing career (Archives, Issue #7, February 19). It would seem that, had he been able to over- come his shyness, he might have had a longer and more storied career. However, the time that he was in South Africa likely must have been worth it alone. Thanks, Archives, for bring- ing to light a racer who I did not know of, yet who was a remark- able asset to our sport as well as being a good family man.
