KENDA AMA NATIONAL ENDURO SERIES
VOL. 51 ISSUE 9 MARCH 4, 2014 P81
In the end, Mullins won five of
the six tests and beat out second-
place finisher Jesse Groemm by
one minute and 34 seconds.
"This was a good way to start
off the year, winning the first
race," said Mullins. "I had a re-
ally bad crash in the first test, it
was out in a field and I don't know
what I caught, but I just kind of
clipped something and had a
fourth-gear get-off. I was able to
get up real quick and I didn't re-
ally lose too much time, so I was
able to still win the test, although
Bobbitt was not far off my time."
Slow Start
After getting off to a slow start in
the first test, Groemm got better
as the day went on and won the
final test to put an exclamation
point on his runner-up finish.
"I was tight in the first section
and I felt like I was riding horrible
but somehow I still managed to
get fifth in that test, so I guess ev-
eryone else was struggling too,"
said the Maxxis/Klim/Dirtwise
KTM Race Team-backed rider.
"After the first test, I started to
pick up the pace and I felt like
I was getting faster as the day
went on, although I got turned
around in the fifth test and got
lost. I didn't lose as much time as
some did, though, and I was able
to hold on to second."
