old fiddle. In World Superbike
terms the Suzuki GSX-R1000 is a
very old fiddle, with an even older
basic design, but it has had new
life breathed into it by both techni-
cal improvements and - more im-
portantly maybe - the talents and
experience of Phillip Island race
one winner, Eugene Laverty.
His tune started off in the
lower registers in race one as he
dropped to seventh and then had
