"We started pretty far back, I
think around 15th, which wasn't
a good start to the race, but I
was able to work my way up in-
side the top 10 and then, at that
point, I started to find my lines,"
said Peick. "After that, I saw An-
drew Short, Eli Tomac and Justin
Barcia in front of me, and I just
started picking them off one at a
time."
A lot of the riders complained
about there not being very many
good spots to pass in San Diego,
but somehow, Peick managed to
find a way to get the job done,
passing several factory riders in
the process.
"There were a few slower
places on the track that I was
capitalizing on," said Peick. "That
rhythm section after the first turn,
it was probably the only legitimate
place on the track where you
could pass, so I was going quad
into the turn and just squared ev-
erybody up and shot to the inside
and made block-passes."
