fect laps in order to stay ahead
of him. Then Martin went down
and I got to a point to where I was
thinking, 'Oh my god, I'm going to
win a Supercross.' And I had to
put that out of my head and hit my
marks and that's what I did."
"I was trying to switch lines just
to find something smoother and I
just hit a low spot and I came up
a little short," Davalos said about
his crash.
On lap seven, Baggett passed
Cianciarulo, but the youngster re-
taliated on the next lap to retake
the lead.
"Baggett got by me and I had
to run it back in on him in the
whoops," said Cianciarulo. "It
was clean racing between us all
night. It was just full willpower
from there. I came in a little bit
sick, and it was all willpower. I
kept watching the laps, watching
the laps go by, just looking for the
finish."
After taking the checkered
flag, Cianciarulo celebrated with
a fist in the air. The win marked
the first time a rider has won his
Supercross debut since Trey Ca-
nard in 2008.
"It's unbelievable," said Cian-
ciarulo. "It doesn't even feel real,
it feels like I'm dreaming. I didn't
expect this at all. I mean, I was
having some good weeks com-
ing into this, and then everything
went perfect. Both holeshots, I
can't even believe it."
Baggett was relatively happy
with second place considering
it was his first race back since
injuring himself right before Ana-
heim I.
"This is the best first race I've
had since I started riding the se-
ries," said Baggett. "I've never
finished on the podium in the first
round, I've always had issues, so
this is a good start. Second is
good, since I only had eight days
on the bike counting press day.
Coming off two injuries, a wrist
and a foot, but I want to be the
guy at the end of the year who
has the number-one plate. So if
we have to sacrifice a few wins
here and there in order to be
there every weekend, then that's
Justin Bogle
was another
rider returning
from injury and
placed fifth in
the 250 main.
