Briefly...
Cole Thompson filled in for the in-
jured Joey Savatgy on the Rockstar
Energy Racing Team and came away
with a respectable sixth in the 250
main. Savatgy suffered multiple inju-
ries during the off season and prob-
ably won't be back in action until the
outdoor Nationals.
After the race, James Stewart
talked about the differences in this
week's win versus last week's win
in San Diego. "To be able to get a
win last weekend and then again
this weekend is great," said Stewart.
"They each kind of came in a differ-
ent way. Last week, I passed Ryan
Villopoto right away and we battled
for a while before I pulled away. This
week, I followed for a few laps and
then passed Dungey and he kind of
stayed with me for a while before I
was able to inch away."
Ryan Villopoto gave his assess-
ment of the track after the race.
"This was one of the more slippery
tracks we've had," said Villopoto. "At
least here, though, it's consistent. It
makes it easier to ride when it's con-
sistently slippery. Where Anaheim
has a lot of marbles on top of the
slippery stuff and a lot of holes. So
that's what makes that what I think is
harder to ride than this."
In just his third race of the season,
Eli Tomac struggled to finish 11
th
on
his GEICO Honda. "It was a little up
and down once again for me," Tomac
said. "Practice was just so-so. I was
pretty far off, really. When we got to
the evening I felt like I did really well
in my heat race and probably rode
my best of the day in that race. Un-
fortunately, I ended up fifth, which
was one off the transfer, so I had to
