CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Just remember we Americans love Nicky, and we're your largest market." Family Affair Great article about the real issues surrounding a family's commitment to motorcycle racing at the professional level (Carruthers Says, Issue #6, February 11). Like many profes- sional athletes in other sports, riders have to "play hurt," there are no do-overs, no event postponements for you. The season is a freight train. You are either on it, or it leaves you at the station. The passion of a family trying to achieve a rider's life goals was well described by Mr. Caruthers. We know intuitively that families must give up a lot to support the rider. This article gave it a very warm human face. Thanks. Steve Perry Townsend, GA McGrath Miscue Just letting you know that you owe Jeremy McGrath an apol- ogy. He has 72 Supercross wins and not 48 as mentioned in 2014 San Diego Supercross coverage that compared him to James Stewart's 46 so far. James has a long way to catch the King of Supercross. M. DeFonce Via the Internet You're correct. We screwed that up. Stewart is two wins behind Ricky Carmichael – not Jeremy McGrath… Editor The Berkeley Burner I so very much enjoyed this article ("The Berkeley Burner," Archives, Issue #6, Febru- ary 11). Reading about a black man who enjoys the sport that I enjoy, who had his interest piqued as I did as a young boy, and then went on to become a top-level racer, was a refresh- ing change from the normal promulgation of the black man as victim. While I am sure that Mr. Wil- liams faced his share of preju- dice and trials, he was able to overcome them, and pursue his dream of racing motorcycles. I am looking forward to the con- clusion next week. Reynold Hicklin Ventura, CA Our Photos Rule I haven't even gotten past page 12 of this week's Cycle News, but I was inspired to write. You have the best contribut- ing photographers. I really en- joy your photo selection each week. Keep up the great work. Jim Bensberg Via the Internet Zero Rip-Off Did Terra Motors use newly recruited "professional engi- neers from Toyota, Honda, and Yamaha?" Nah, they bought one of those new 3D printers and told the kid in the mailroom to feed a Zero S into it. That's why they are asking $28,700 for the new Kiwami. 3D printers ain't cheap, ya know. If they did have pro engi- neers, they would not have copied the preposterous front brake line routing of the Zero, flopping off the outside of the fork tube, waiting to get snagged by anything coming along. Jim Sweazy Glendale, AZ Help Nicky! Come on Honda, it's pretty ob- vious that Nicky Hayden does not have the same horsepower motor that you brought out at the first test session. That's a very crappy way of treating a World Champion who won with your bike in 2006. Send him the "real motor" that has the horsepower that he needs. Yes, we know it won't be the one to embarrass Marc Marquez, but at least get him in the hunt, not stuck behind the Ducati's in "no-man's land." That's the least that you could do, or suffer the barbs that we who know better will send your way if you don't. Just remember we Ameri- cans love Nicky, and we're your largest market. Make a good decision now. Kevin Gettmann Via the Internet Letters to the editor can be sent to voices@cyclenews.com. Published letters do not necessarily reflect the position of Cycle News.
