MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES
VOL. 51 ISSUE 6 FEBRUARY 11, 2014 P49
Briefly...
Wil Hahn did not suit up for the eve-
ning program at San Diego. The GEI-
CO Honda Team rider went down in
practice and hurt the same hand he
injured last week at Anaheim III. The
hand was still hurting when the eve-
ning program rolled around so the
Honda rider elected to sit the race
out. "I probably should have waited
a week, but I wanted to race here,
especially with it being Military Ap-
preciation night," Hahn said. "I really
tried to ride, but as soon as I crashed
[in practice] I realized right away that
it happened because my hand isn't
healed all the way. If I was able to
grip the handlebars like normal, I
wouldn't have gone down. I decided
to take the night off to make abso-
lutely sure I can race up front next
weekend in Dallas."
Eli Tomac finally completed a race
in his inaugural season aboard the
GEICO Honda 450, and his seventh-
place result with brother Greg, a
Captain in the U.S. Air Force cheer-
ing him on, made for a satisfying Mili-
tary Appreciation Day at Qualcomm
Stadium. "Not bad for just my sec-
ond race back," said Tomac, who
suffered a flat tire in last weekend's
main event and was unable to finish.
"I'm feeling better and better and my
shoulder [which he injured in prac-
tice during the first race of the year]
is stronger. It's still not 100 percent
but it's very close. I know that as it
gets better, I'll get better overall."
Cooper Webb was running as high
as fifth in the 250 main when he
went down. He got up and finished
14th. "Off the start Dean Wilson kind
of flinched and then I flinched and
I got a dead last start and tried to

for the Yoshimura Suzuki Team
rider.
His last win came in Atlanta
in 2013 when he beat out Vil-
lopoto and Justin Barcia to the
checkered flag. His San Di-
ego win was impressive in that
he first had to pass Villopoto,
which he did on the first lap,
and then hold him off for the
remaining 19. Not an easy task.
"I'm happy with the way I
did it," said Stewart. "I made
a couple of little mistakes, but
the track was getting slippery
and tough and you can't ride a
track like that and not make a
few little mistakes."

"S
omeone told me this
was win number 46,
but the only number
I was worried about was the
number one, and that was get-
ting my first win of 2014," James
Stewart said after taking top
honors at the San Diego Super-

The two-time Supercross
Champion is now second on
the all-time Supercross wins
list, just two behind Jeremy
McGrath's 48 wins. Number
