end, the group behind me was
right there at the finish," Webb
added. "The course could have
been a little harder, but we are
pretty much right there with what
our bikes are capable of and if it
was much harder it could be hell
on earth for us."
"My weekend was good," said
runner-up Robert after his first
race on his new KTM team. "My
low point had to be my qualifying,
although it didn't really matter
that much. My highlight was win-
ning the morning race over Cody
[Webb] by over a minute. The
start of the second loop was a lit-
tle frustrating, yet I got into a nice
battle with Haaker, Graham Jar-
vis, and at times Kyle Redmond.
I didn't see Cody during the sec-
ond race, yet with his tire issue
at the end I was able to make up
some time and finished second
and with the adjusted time I was
still second overall. It was a two-
hour extreme race and I knew
anything could happen. We all
kind of rode our own race. In our
little battle we kept swapping the
lead because it was easy to see
the line of the guy in front or the
mistakes he made so you could
make up time."
"I enjoyed just being at the
race and the different choice of
terrain and the flat outs, but I also
had my share of lows as well,"
Jarvis said. "From a results point
of view it was a bit of disaster. I
had a bad qualifier, but I pulled it
back together, but for me it was
not quite hard enough for me to
gain any time on anyone so that
is always going to be difficult. The
start was not that bad for me but
Cody [Webb] and the other top
riders were not getting that stuck
anywhere, so it was not easy to
make up any time on them and
for sure making up time in the
flowing sections was not going to
happen with these guys."
Michael Allen scored the
Sportsman win and was one of
two sportsman riders to com-
plete the course in time. Michael
Salsman and Steven Foord won
the team challenge and navi-
gated the entire course in time
aboard trials bikes. Louise Fors-
ley was the unofficial women's
champion even though she timed
out and was unable to finish the
entire course.
And for his selfless efforts to
help out his fellow racers during
the competition, Steve Behunin
earned himself the first ever Kurt
Caselli Sportsmanship award. CN
