ROUND 1/JANUARY 26, 2014
JOHNSON VALLEY OHV AREA/LUCERNE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA
OFF ROAD
P102
AMA/SRT HARE & HOUND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
38 minutes and 13 seconds, he rolled up to a cheering section of KTM personnel, family, friends and
well-wishers. There, emotions overcame him as he
remembered how much his former teammate, roommate and mentor - the late Kurt Caselli - was responsible for getting him to this point.
"I was thinking about Kurt during the race,"
Ramirez said. "Because I remember we used to
work on stuff. I would mess up a little bit and he'd
say do this or do that. I felt like for sure he was looking from above and making sure everything's good."
While Ramirez stayed out of trouble - and just out
of reach - up front, behind him a number of racers
battled for second place over the 80-mile-long tour
of the Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Area.
Morrow and Burson got good starts on their Motul/
GPR Stabilizers/Klim-sponsored Beta 498 RRs and
remained in that lead pack the whole way, but several others were able to work past them at different
points of the race.
