SUPERCROSS
Unlike his first three races,
where he struggled with the hardpacked and slippery conditions,
Villopoto looked right at home on
the tacky Oakland course that offered good traction, as he turned
in a near-perfect ride to outdistance the field and claim his second win of the season.
"The track was good enough
that we could really push the
bikes and push the track to its
limit, and that was the difference
for me," said Villopoto. "When
you have a track like Anaheim last
weekend, you pretty much tip-toe
around it and try not to fall down.
It's hard to race that track where
smoother and slower is faster.
But here we could ride it hard
and see a difference.
"It's pretty much all about the
dirt – we finally had some good
dirt. At Anaheim, the dirt is really
no good anymore. No rain and
no moisture plays a part in there,
but I think it's time we got new
dirt at that track. But we come
up here to Oakland and the dirt
was really good and it was a really good track."
If there was a difference maker on the track, it had to be the
quad jump on the straight after
the first turn, which was only attempted by a few riders. Villopoto
