P30 IN THE WIND PEGRAM TO EBR! L arry Pegram will try AMA Superbike racing with his fourth different brand in 2014, the team owner/racer switching to the Vtwin EBR 1190s for the coming AMA Superbike season. Pegram, who has used Ducatis, BMWs and most recently Yamahas in his self-owned, Foremost Insurance-backed team, will make the move to EBRs and will also have backing from EBR's sponsors Amsoil and Hero MotorCorp. "Pegram Racing is very energized by this new opportunity to run the American Superbike, EBR," Pegram said in a press release. "We went and tested in the off-season and were convinced of the capabilities of the 1190RX. The alliance between our title sponsor Foremost and Pegram Larry Pegram will switch from Yamaha to EBR for the 2014 AMA Superbike Series. Racing has delivered excitement and top results for a number of seasons. We thrive on the learning experience of running different brands of motorcycles and can't wait for the 2014 season. The unique EBR motorcycle and its story will add even more interest for the AMA race fans and the followers of our Superbike Family reality show on Velocity." EBR founder Erik Buell will LORENZO, ROSSI, NEW M1 BREAK COVER Y amaha's Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi showed off their new M1s in Indonesia last week, the pair unveiling the new bike in front of some 4000 people at the 3S Yamaha dealer meeting. "I like the new bike a lot, it's very smart and elegant with more white," Lorenzo said. "It's not just the color, though; I'm excited to see what's inside the bike in Sepang. My expectations for this season are very high. This winter I had an operation to take out the metal plates in my shoulder so I'm a bit lighter, but I'm also a bit fatter after Christmas. I am training hard to lose some kilos and I will try to start the season well like last year and be straight onto the podium. This will be important to get points and gain confidence to continued on page 32 campaign a team in the World Superbike Championship in 2014 with Aaron Yates and Geoff May. Having Pegram's team use EBRs is his way of staying in fiveround AMA Superbike Series. "2014 is a watershed year for EBR motorcycle racing," said Buell. "After two exciting seasons in AMA Superbike, the factory EBR team of Geoff May and Aaron Yates, sponsored by Hero MotoCorp and Amsoil have committed to race our American superbikes in the 2014 World Superbike series international competition. This is the first time an American brand will compete on this worldclass level. But it left a big gap for us to fill in AMA Pro Superbike. Now being able to simultaneously compete in the United States with a team of Pegram Racing's caliber is just great. I could not have imagined a better way to move ahead in the U.S., and it speaks clearly to the potential Larry sees in our motorcycles."
