CN III VOICES P18 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR "I was not expecting to delve into my psyche and come to tears reading an article in Cycle News." Laguna And AMA Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca needs to forget the AMA/DMG. I have been to only one AMA road race in the last five years (that wasn't held in conjunction with MotoGP or World Superbike). It was at Sears Point and what stands out in my mind was that I was bored out of my skull with the AMA races - but I was thoroughly entertained with the other events going on at the track. They held vintage MX and flat track racing and supermoto in conjunction with the AMA races. In fact I missed the start of the Superbike race because I was watching the flat track races. When I did get up to the track to watch the Superbike race, I was bored by the race and the results (I can't even remember who won). Laguna could hold vintage road race, motocross and TT racing in support of the World Superbike round. If Sears Point (aka - Infineon Raceway) could put on that kind of show in support of an AMA race, I would assume that it wouldn't be any more expensive than what it would cost to bring in the AMA bikes. I find with so many classes, I get saturated and tend to skip the AMA practices entirely and only watch the races (and sometimes skip the AMA races, too). I think bringing in vintage racing could break up the monotony and provide an enjoyable variety to make the show more interesting. If plans are made now, and enough advance notice given out, this could draw a very interesting attendance of our racing past to this event. Also, I am okay with holding one World Superbike race on each day (Saturday and Sunday) and think if you get that information out in advance there won't be so much complaining. I was at the World Superbike races this year for the whole weekend, but was caught off guard by the change - as were those who only attended on Sunday, and were disappointed to see only one World Superbike race. Will Mansfield Via the Internet Doug Henry Fan When there is a foot of snow on the ground here, Tuesday's become even more important. Usually it means a little motorcycle time, maybe a good laugh, certainly a great picture or two. Issue #50 changed all that. I was not expecting to delve into my psyche and come to tears reading an article in Cycle News. As a Type 1 diabetic for over 45 years, I have experienced my share of desperation and self pity, but reading Eric Johnson's article on Doug Henry ("Pocketful Of Miracles Revisited," Issue 50, December 17) gave me renewed hope and a much needed feeling of euphoria. "What do you mean by taken" may just be my new mantra. Let's ride! Dan Hirst Rochester, NY Doug Henry II This guy is and always will be my idol. I wish more people knew of his story outside of motocross circles. He has and could be used to inspire so many - especially others who are in his shoes. Keith Kittrelle Via Facebook Josh Herrin Great story on Josh Herrin ("Exiled Champion," Issue 50, December 17). Now I'll have a reason to follow Moto2. Mike Wong Via Facebook Issue 50 What a Great Issue! I could only get through 57 pages then I had to go to work this morning. Back at it tonight.
