fourth WCGP Pro and fifth overall.
Samuels took over at that point
aboard his Red I/PCI Race Radios/MSR Honda CRF450X.
"Evan got the holeshot and he
was riding really, really good,"
he reported. "[Justin] Seeds was
second. I think I had a fifth-place
start and got up to them and they
were going at it.
"I got around both of them
then pulled in for a pit, and Seeds
passed me back while I was in the
pit, then Seeds picked it up," Samuels added. "I was chasing him for
a while then he pulled in for gas I
think 30 minutes after I did."
Samuels and Seeds then battled back and forth as the skies
that had been cloudy all day finally opened up and turned the
course into a slop-fest, and that
became every rider's toughest
foe. In places, water completely
covered the course, slowing everyone's pace significantly.
That may have played a role in
an unusually high attrition rate.
Seeds ended up with a bike issue on his Ame/FMF/Moose
Racing KX450F that forced him
out of the race with only a couple
laps left. Jamie Lanza - who has
dominated the 200cc Expert division this year and had the class
championship sewed up - also
