GLEN HELEN RACEWAY/SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA
MOTOCROSS
RED BULL A DAY IN THE DIRT
featured some new twists this year. There was the traditional Happy Hour practice on Friday, with proceeds
benefitting the Steve McQueen Fund for the Boys
Republic, followed by the SoCal Reunion where competitors raced in honor of legendary tracks Saddleback Park, Carlsbad Raceway and Indian Dunes. In
addition to the various standard GP races, there was
the new Bossa Nova Team Race, a Motocross des
Nations-style event that combined each three-man
team's scores towards their overall finish. There was
also a new separate, short TT track for the CalVMX and
Hell On Wheels vintage racers, plus some minicycle
classes. Also on the agenda was a showing of On Any
Sunday in the new Troy Lee Designs Barn on Friday
night, and a Go-Go Party on Saturday evening. Saturday's racing was capped off with a lap of honor for Kurt
Caselli. The traditional Coup de Grace finished things
- and some of the racers - off for the weekend.
