a decent start and no dust, so he

1000 just over a week ago.
That lack of dust promised
close racing and indeed it doesn't
get much closer in desert racing
with four riders swapping the lead
back and forth the entire way. In
the end, Off-Road Support/Kawasaki of Simi Valley's Jacob Argubright came out on top for the
second time this season to seal
second place in points, but his
win didn't come easily. Purvines
Racing Beta swept the next three
positions with Nick Burson lead-
ing Justin Morrow and Axel Pearson; each of the top four led at
one point or another.
This race was originally scheduled to run in October but was
rescheduled due to the government shutdown in effect at the
time. On that original weekend,
a number of people came out to
ride the course and enjoy a more
relaxed time.
Those who did, however, had
no real advantage in trail familiarity because the co-hosting clubs
simply laid out new courses and
got them approved by the BLM in
time.
Burson, though, was familiar
with one section of the course
and it paid off when he got to
the bomb first aboard his Motul/
Dunlop/6D Helmets-backed 498
RR, though it was short-lived.
"I finally nailed the start at a
National!" he said. "Luckily for
