From there, Taddy opened up a
small lead on Brown, while Haaker closed in on them both in seventh. At that point, Brown seemed
to settle down a bit and was apparently waiting for a mistake by
Taddy. And it would come twice.
During the next few laps,
Taddy stalled his bike two times,
but thanks to his KTM's electric
starting, was able to stay ahead
of Brown, but the second stall,
in the Matrix section, allowed
Brown to really close the gap and
nearly make the pass. The race
for the title was very much on
once again. But it wouldn't last
for long.
Two laps later, Brown jumped a
little too wide into the water hole
and landed on the side of a large
log. As a result, he lost control of
his bike and went down. He was
in an awkward spot and had to
spin his bike around, causing him
to lose a ton of time on Taddy.
By this time, just past the halfway point, Brown's forearms
were done. They were as tight
as a drum. He would say later
that he could no longer pull in
the clutch lever, not good in an
EnduroCross. He would struggle
