"After earning a superb reputation on the tracks of the American off-road races, he admitted being conquered by cross-country rallies." Naturally, the news hit the Baja racing fraternity like a ton of bricks. "With the uttermost respect, JCR/Honda extends our condolences to the Caselli family and KTM," Johnny Campbell Racing posted on its website after winning the Baja 1000. "We are very heart broken over the loss of our friend and great competitor Kurt Caselli. Kurt was and always will be a "True Champion" defined by his character on the bike and off the bike. Kurt's presence at the races was always welcoming and friendly. He will forever be an icon and a hero to us all. We had many great races together and those experiences we will always cherish. He was smart, hard working, fearless, graceful, talented and enjoyable and the lessons he taught us all will never be forgotten." Paul Carruthers P19 Briefly... Noyes Goes Big American road racer Kenny Noyes, after four years riding 600cc Moto2 machines, returned to the Spanish (CEV) 1000cc Extreme Stock class and took a strong fourth place in his first ride on the Speed Racing Suzuki GSX-R on Sunday in Valencia, Spain. Noyes started from the second row and scrapped briefly with eventual winner Ivan Silva (Stratos BMW) but had to settle for fourth behind Silva, reigning Spanish Champion Carmelo Morales and series leader Xavier Fores. Drag Racers To Middle East Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson' NHRA Pro Stock racers Eddie Krawiec and Andrew Hines are currently joining Summit Racing Equipment and Armed Forces Entertainment for Operation Appreciation, an annual visit to American troops stationed overseas. After three years of visiting American military personnel based in Europe, Operation Appreciation will travel to the Middle East to visit troops in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. This year's trip is the second for Krawiec and Hines. Pedrosa Undergoes Surgery Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa was discharged from the hospital on November 15 – one day after the Spaniard underwent surgery to have a plate and 13 screws removed from his right collarbone. The plate and screws have been in place since surgery following the 2011 French Grand Prix when Pedrosa originally suffered the injury after his collision with Marco Simoncelli. Pedrosa has been told to rest for two weeks before starting rehabilitation. The Vegas Knight The Isle of Man's David Knight – a two-time EnduroCross Champion – has been confirmed as an entrant in the AMA EnduroCross Finals on Saturday, November 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The last time Knight competed in an AMA EnduroCross was the 2007 Las Vegas finals and, although he clinched the championship that night, he was somewhat overshadowed by an EnduroCross first timer named Taddy Blazusiak. Knight will be aboard his factory Sherco in Vegas. Hayden Has Surgery MotoGP star Nicky Hayden underwent surgery on his right wrist continued on next page
