A
nother round of the AMA
District 37 Big 6 and West
Coast Grand Prix Series
came and went, this round at
the Quail Canyon MX Track in
Gorman, California. The Prospectors MC set the stage for
Timmy Weigand to take another
big win in the West Coast GP Series, followed by his JCR Honda
teammate, Evan Kelly. Weigand
showed his versatility by dominating the field on a much curvier
and lower-speed course than
normal. The seven-mile track
laid out by the Prospectors kept
all the action in close proximity rather than sending riders out
into the sprawling Hungry Valley
SVRA, but most described the
course as "fun and flowing."
Weigand began his weekend
in the Vet class, where he dueled a bit with Cycle World editor
Ryan Dudek for the win. Dudek
settled for second ahead of thirdoverall finisher Morgan Crawford,
who claimed the Vet Lightweight
Expert win.
Weigand and Dudek were set
to do battle again in the West
Coast GP, as the two headed out
on the first lap running a close
first and second, respectively.
While Dudek remained in a solid
second place for the first half of
the race, a two-minute pit stop
Tim Weigand continued his winning
run in the West Coast GP Series
after topping the Prospector's Big 6
Grand Prix.
