Mr. Finale: For the third time in the
last six years, Eddie Krawiec won
the final round of the NHRA Pro
Stock Series in Pomona.
r the third time in the last six years,
die Krawiec wins NHRA's season final in Pomona
to Pollacheck's 6.96.
"It was an awesome day,"
Krawiec said. "I'm fortunate
that this race track has been my
house. That's the way I look at
it. I do the best I can to not let
anyone else win here. The odd
stat is that I've won here every
year that I've lost the championship I guess that it's a good way
to cap the season either way.

Briefly...
Matt Smith won the first round of
eliminations after teammate John
Hall red-lighted, but he was reinstated after the run when his Viper Motorcycle Co. Buell came up
light at the scales. Smith reportedly changed engines before the
round and didn't take into account
a lightweight engine case. Some of
Smith's fellow racers hold a different view of the incident and maintain
that Smith, who had already clinched
the championship, gave up the win
on purpose in order to help out his
teammate.
After he won the recent Las Vegas
round and clinched the 2013 Mello
Yello Pro Stock Motorcycle championship, Matt Smith said that he
planned to put teammate Scotty
Pollacheck on his Viper Motorcycle Co. Buell in Pomona and true
to his word, Smith and Pollacheck
swapped rides and Pollacheck didn't
let the opportunity go to waste by riding to the final round. "Matt's bike is
a little different than the one I'm used
to, but not a ton," Pollacheck said.
"The seat is a little different and his
chassis is a little different, but overall
they are really similar. Mostly, we did
this just to see what we could each
learn by riding a different bike. Matt
can now ride my bike and if there is
something wrong, he should be able
to tell and we can get a handle on it."
After an impressive start, Lucas Oil
Buell's Adam Arana isn't afraid to
admit that he's regressed as a rider
during his rookie season. Arana lost
in the first round at the last eight
events, including two via a red light
and two more via a starting line holeshot. As a result, he finished number
