"Today was very emotional, it
was something different," Rossi
said after ending up just .093 of
a second off Lorenzo's best. "We
were working a long time with
Jeremy so today was like a restart from the beginning, but I'm
happy and I'm satisfied with the
day. I know Silvano already from

ess than 24 hours after winning the MotoGP season finale, Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo was
at it again at the Ricardo Tormo
Circuit in Valencia with the Spaniard leading the way in the first of
three days of testing for the 2014
GP season.
Both Lorenzo and his teammate Valentino Rossi were riding the new 2014 YZR-M1 with
a 2013 model available as a reference. Both riders also made
some laps with the new standard
ECU that will be used as part of
the 2014 regulations. Today was
also Rossi's first day with his new
crew chief, Silvano Galbusera.
"We tried many small things
today and some have been very
positive so we are quite satisfied," said Lorenzo, who led the
test with his best lap of 1:31.257.
"I feel good and I feel in good
shape. We were able to give
good information to the engineers so everything is going well
so far and we are looking forward
to continuing tomorrow."
It was likely a difficult day for
Rossi in some aspects after saying goodbye to long-time crew

on the bike. The condition of
the track and the weather were
perfect so I enjoyed it a lot. We
worked with both bikes. I liked
the new one a lot; it has good
power exit from the corners and
the chassis gives a good feeling
on the front so the first impression is very positive."
LCR Honda's Stefan Bradl
ended the first day of the test
with the third best time, though
the two factory Hondas of newly
crowned World Champion Marc
Marquez and Dani Pedrosa took
Monday off and will start testing
on Tuesday.
