class.
was looking for a repeat performance in the Heavyweight Expert class, and was well on his
way to another win when his day
took a turn for the worse.
"Someone blew out the corner
on a real fast sweeper," Burson
described. "It was blown out
straight into the bushes. And
I was having a little bit of bike
trouble in the first two laps. I
think I got a piece of dirt stuck
"I know the corner wasn't in
very good condition and Nick
pushed it in there," Kelly recalled.
"I just kind of drove right by while
he was stuck."
Burson remained in second
while Kelly went on to take the
win. Nick Stover took third overall, and the Lightweight I Expert win ahead of 3BrosRacing
KTM of Kevin Barbosa. Factory
Husqvarna's Jamie Lanza took
fifth overall and the Lightweight
II win – his second class-victory
of the weekend, having also taken the WCGP 200 Expert win
aboard his 144cc two-stroke on
Saturday.
"Dalton Shirley got the holeshot and fought me off," Lanza
explained of the Sunday afternoon race. "I got around him
before the off-road section. We
caught the 250s pretty soon. It
was pretty much chaos the first
two laps. It was so dusty with
square-edges. We couldn't really see. But my FMF Husqvarna
Pass Physical Therapy 144 ran really good today and I had a great
time."

in the carburetor so every time
I'd hit hard it would bog. I hit the
corner real hard and normally I
would have enough power to pull
out back onto the course, but it
bogged and I went straight into
the bushes and I was stuck in the
bushes for a little while."
While Burson struggled to free
his Beta 498 RR from the brush,
JCR Honda's Evan Kelly capitalized on the incident.
