If Marc Marquez had lost
the championship because
of his team's error in Australia…
well, Jorge Lorenzo would have
done enough to deserve it, but
it still wouldn't have been exactly
fair. Championships should be
won on the track, not the Race
Direction office.
If he'd lost it by crashing or otherwise faltering under the pressure at Valencia, that would have
been fair.
If he'd won it, as he did, by
combining his devil-may-care riding style with his obvious maturity
and overall understanding… well
that was exactly fair.
As it was, Lorenzo did everything he had to do. It was more
than just win the race. He did his
damnedest to slow the pace, to
bring some other riders into the
