STANTON ON FOUR-STROKES >>
– and still do exclude – closed-course
competition vehicles.
"Right, so they should have kept twostrokes around," Stanton added.
However, on the bike, the new fourstrokes are so good that it's much easier to go fast, which is a blessing and a
curse at the same time.
"Yep, just gas it and go," Stanton said. "They go
so fast, you go out of control one swap and it's a
big swap."
Former
Supercross
and motocross
champ Jeff
Stanton is a big
part of the RCU.
During his teaching, Jeff Stanton was
riding a Honda CRF450R, and obviously
he knows how good the four-strokes are,
as he was riding it very well, so we asked
him what he thought about four-strokes
versus the two-strokes he won six championships racing.
"I talk to my buddies about it all the time and I
honestly think that all the manufacturers cut their
own arm off when they made four-strokes," Stanton said. "I've got a buddy that owns a fix-it shop
and I see four-strokes in there that are sitting there
because people don't have $3,000 to fix them.
And they wonder why they can't sell any bikes; a
new bike is $8,000. The cheap days are done
and people just don't have the money, so in turn,
they bit their own hand off. They had to have fourstroke technology, emissions, all this BS."
But emissions requirements always excluded
