(Above) Defending Moose Run champ Russell
Bobbitt was slowed by a sticking throttle.
(Right) Local favorite Adam Bonneur got on the
podium with a third-place finish.
Fly Racing Kawasaki's Adam Bonneur did the
locals proud by rounding out the podium in third.
The race got off to a somewhat bumpy start.
Bonneur got the holeshot on his RidePG.com/
Maxxis/Fly Racing-sponsored KX450F by
sweeping around the outside of the high-speed
first turn in the wide-open corn field next to the
Bike Barn, but some course markers were out of
place and caused the field to take a wrong turn,
eventually finding them going against the flow of
traffic. Fortunately, no one hit each other and officials herded everyone back for a rare restart.
"The best thing he could've done was just
stop everyone and restarted like he did," multitime Moose Run winner Jimmy Jarrett said.
On the second go, some two hours later,
Bonneur again got the holeshot (and picked up
a second $200 FMF Holeshot Award, so he
didn't object heavily), though Bobbitt and Jason
Thomas soon got around him.
