CN III VOICES P16 LETTERS TO THE EDITOR "Was the penalty on Marc Marquez extreme? Yes, perhaps." TV Time I can only agree with Conny Johanneson (Voices, Issue 43, October 29) and I've written to MotoGP a few times complaining about how poor the live transmissions are directed. I even mentioned that the director is very lucky that we viewers don't have a remote device that could hurt him every time he doesn't show the race (from a TV experiment many years ago, where the viewers are told that pressing a certain button would give the participant an electric shock). I couldn't care less for extreme slow motion, pit-lane cameras and even those backside cameras that only shows the rear of the rider and not the action, and please don't waste bandwidth on anything but racing action. I also agree that they should show us the action where a few (or more) riders are battling instead of a lonely rider crossing the finish line. How big a protest do we need to make for them to take the customers seriously? Per Byrgren Denmark Go For It EBR In 1992 Scott Russell and Rob Muzzy took a box van and their Kawasakis to Europe and won the World Superbike Championship in their rookie year. They won against big odds and big factories. I say good luck and go for it EBR! Larry Coleman Via the Internet Dear Suzuki… On the world market you offer some models that would seem to be excellent additions to your current line up here in the U.S., but you choose not to import them here. Models like the Bandit 650SA or the GSX750A, both of which would fill a needed hole in your current lineup and should already have EPA approval. It's bad enough that you cannot seem to figure out how to sell the RMX450 here, or update the DR650. And now I'm supposed to get excited about the Burgman 200 - really? Is Suzuki no longer wanting to be known as a performance bike? Rich Klein Grand Rapids, MI Dear Riders… We would like to take this opportunity to let all of you know that we have enjoyed being a part of your lives. We have been part of running motocross on Long Island since 1989 and have known many of you for just as long. Our children grew up through those years and are now grown and we are grandparents. It has not always been easy for us as a family juggling everything, but it has been an amazing journey. We have put in long hours and many memorable events that we will remember forever. We have made the very tough decision to retire from running motocross races. On that note we would like to thank all of you for being a huge part of our lives and wish you all well. We wish everyone safety, happiness and success in your future. A memory lasts forever, never will it die... true friends stay together and never say goodbye... Tammy and Joe Merrill Long Island, NY Liked Phillip Island I must be one of the few people who considered the Australian Grand Prix quite entertaining and full of drama. Isn't that why you watch? I think they should do more races where pit stops are required. All other motorsports do it and do quite well at it. Was the penalty on Marc Marquez extreme? Yes, perhaps. Did it make for great racing drama, yes... By the way the "the rule changes were confusing" talk is hogwash. These are grownup professionals. Only two teams managed to screw it up so apparently most teams were able to adjust. That's why they get paid the big bucks.
