He'd tried hard and challenged
strongly mid-race.
"When Jorge went faster, I had
a couple of moments, and I decided it would be better to take
20 points," Marquez said.
More tellingly perhaps, where
before he tended to avoid talking about winning the title, now
he spoke obliquely about the
chance of losing it.
"We must remember that this
is my first season, and this was
not my target. Anyway, I will try.
Valencia will be interesting," he
said, with a laugh.
Marquez' teammate, Dani Pedrosa waved goodbye to his last
mathematical chances of finishing better than third overall,
chasing for much of the race but
dropping away under Lorenzo's
P45
relentless laps - again blaming
poor grip.
"I was getting to a good pace,
but I couldn't exit the corner with
as much acceleration as I usually do, and when Jorge took the
rhythm, I had nothing left," Pedrosa said.
The end of the pressure of
possibilities left the 28-year-old
more cheerful than in months.
